Don't English Me

I met up with GM to get Lee's laptop and on my way home I chanced up on a piece of paper where she wrote what appeared to be an essay in English.

Respect

Why does children nowadays disrespect our country? Even in standing straight and reciting properly.

We know that Filipinos have deep love for our country. But children today seems that they did not love our country. For standing straight for just a few minutes, why do children can't do it properly? Is it because of modern gadgets and technology?

We, as Filipinos citizens must show respect for our country. Participating on flag ceremonies is just a little thing for us but a big thing for our country.

This makes us realize that how can we children be the hope of our future if respecting our country is a hard thing for us.

Children, rise up! And respect our country.

++++++

Boring title
Verb tenses
Examples are incomplete
Prepositional phrases everywhere

++++++

Baby, there should be a topic sentence. The topic sentence gives the main idea of what you are writing about.

The title should NOT BE BORING it should match the topic and it should be INTERESTING. It should grab the attention of the reader who in this case is your TEACHER. T_T Seriously, she needs to WANT to read what you wrote.

Revision: I am not good at teaching the little parts of where the thing you wrote is not okay. I already forgot how to do that since that is no longer my job and I have not have enough sleep yet. So here goes.

We are so going to have to do this over the weekend because clearly there is something wrong with your language rules absorption. T_T Well, you can do math in  your head so I guess GOD said you can't be perfect. Moving on.

STAND UP

My mother told me that children nowadays are less respectful of our country. Even the small act of standing up straight during the flag ceremony for singing the national anthem and reciting the "Panatang Makabayan" properly is a challenge for many of them.

We, Filipinos are known for our love for our country. But children seem to lack this attitude. I don't know if it's because of all the gadgets we use or how most of us were raised but many children are not very patient.

As citizens of this country, we must show respect in big ways and small ways. How can we become the hope for the future if we can't learn how to be good Filipinos?

Discipline is something that we need to learn. So rise up and learn to show respect to the flag, to the national anthem and the country that they stand for.

I just realized that it's extremely hard to not use the words that are in my level and ask my sister to understand sentences that contain them. But I am sure we can work on this.

5 Things Little Sisters should know about Life

  1. Our parents would never let you do your own thing unless you prove that you are strong enough to do it.

I am already 25 and I still have to rely on them from time to time. We will be doing that for the rest of our lives because we will always be their children. But you also have to learn how to defend the things that you believe in and the people you want to be with. Because sometimes they don't understand because they are outside looking in.

But honestly, in most of the cases, our mom is right. ^.^
  2. You should learn to be tough and weak at the same time.

Remember that being a girl means that you might be physically weaker than boys in your class, your male cousins and playmates. But learning to get up without crying too much makes you stronger. When you are older, you will realize that you were training to be tough for other things too. But crying isn't a sign of weakness, it's a sign that you are human. So cry as much as you need when you get hurt after falling down. But never forget to wipe them away and get up when you are ready to.
Also, there are people who will take advantage of you being weak. So be sure to make many great girlfriends who can swat the hands of those who would try to pick you up only to let you get hurt again. In that case, you can call me and I will handle them. ^.^

  3. Asking for directions is the best way not to get lost.

Boys will always think that this is a stupid idea. They are self-reliant or so they think. But the thing about girls is that we can get directions to go to the moon if we just bat our eyelashes slowly enough. Yes, I know that seems like it's against the whole supergirl personality that I told you about. But we are strongest when we appear like we are not able to take care of ourselves.

Remember : Girls super power comes from our ability to make boys think that they rule the world. We all knows mommies rule the world. So they can just dream on.

  4. Reading is the best thing that you would ever learn in Kindergarden.

There are places that we can't go to because we can neither fly nor could we apparate. But in books we can be in India looking at the Taj Mahal, taking magic carpet rides for a while then swimming with flounders and crabs the next. We can visit places that people can't even begin to imagine.
Also reading can teach us how to write, how to make new ideas, how to dream and eventually, like I told you, rule the world or save it.

  5. No one will hold your hand for the rest of your life so learn to cross the road on your own.

People will leave you and it's not always because they want to. Some of them will leave suddenly and that is not something that you can prepare for. So you need to spend every moment in your life happy enough to share it with others.
You can't be afraid to be left behind. Just think that it's their way of asking you to tell the world to remember them. If you love them truly, your heart will remember them.

So be strong, be bold and stop daydreaming so much and do something to achieve it already.

You are ten now, but someday you won't be. But these things will remain true. The sooner you accept them, the sooner you can make great memories.
